Hello,
I just bought a 79 camaro with a straight 6. I was interested in the possibility of dropping in a 305. Im not looking to blow the doors off every car in the neighborhood. Its actually going to be my wifes car and i am concerned with the 6 passing emissions as is. I think a 305 should be just enough power for her lead foot. Will it bolt to the transmission and engine mounts? Has anyone had any experience with this type of engine swap? If so i would appreciate any information you guys could give me. My neighbor has a 80 TA that is the cleanest i have ever seen and he said i got a really good deal on the camaro.
Thanks
Joseph
oh i bought the car for 500 bucks and the body and suspension is straight. There is a couple small imperfections on the right rear quarter panel but the rest of the car is perfect. all the crome is perfect and the interior is clean. I will post images later on in the week...

Welcome. Get some pics up when you get a chance. You can also ask these questions in the 2nd gen section. More 2nd gen owners are there and you have a better chance of your question getting answered sooner.

OK so guess what...
Instead of driving myself crazy with the 79 I decided to buy her a 94 camaro automatic with the 3.4L v6. It has 88,000 original miles and I paid $2,000 for the pink slip. As far as I can tell it runs great. I was kinda hoping for a little more get up and go but the wife drives like an 80 year old anyway so no big deal. If i want to go fast i take the 96 Pontiac Firebird out for a spin. Honesty I think the Firebird is better in the corners and has more power... it has a 3.8L v6 5 speed manual with 117,000 miles. I paid $3,250 for it. I bought the camaro for the wife cause the color matches my firebird and its kinda like a his and hers cars... heres a pic of the camaro...

ya i still have the 79 but im gonna off load it. my neighbor with the 80 TA is gonna buy it and drop money into it. its a shame cause if i had the time and money to work on it i would but i dont... so ill just focus on trying to replace spark plugs wires and regular oil changes in our 2 cars...
btw how do you get to the plugs on a 96 firebird and a 94 camaro... its like such a pain...
