New member here. I mainly buy abandoned properties, remodel, fix and flip/rentals. I purchased land that had cars trucks etc. I found a 68 or 69 Camaro can't tell yet. I. have always seen crazy finds on TV, but never figured I would find one. It is wrecked, but i'll take what I can get.I am planning to restore. I am uploading the pics I was able to take so far. Front clip is damaged and driver door. Passenger side, rear end, and interior looks great IMO. Found out that most places don't want to touch the body work, so I am trying to figure out enough to repair to get it running, and then take to a shop for the rest. Any positive suggestions are appreciated. I found parts are easy to get, but I would like to keep original if possible. Are there any good body repair videos anyone has seen on a collision like this for the first gen?

 

That sir would be a '67 and a first year Camaro.
Very easy to spot as they were the only year with vent/wing windows.
It also appears to be an RS model looking at the grille ,those are hide away headlights and it has the rectangular park lights under the bumper.
Those were RS options,the standard grill has round park lights in the grille.
I don't seen any SS badging so with that 4 speed stick it's probably got a 327 under the hood.

 

Forgot to include this one. Had ss on sides and front but it fell off.It has 350 on the side in chrome but not sure how original everything is. I’ll run the vin when I get back in town and plan to check out engine etc. Glad to know the year now. Thank you.

 

Well if t's a real RS/SS that's a pretty cool find,sure needs a lot of work but a car worth saving especially if it has the original numbers matching engine and transmission.
The SS Camaro was the first car to get the then new 350 engine and the only car or truck to get a 350 in 1967,it was only available in the SS Camaro.
Your car has the correct stripe for an SS,it should have front disc brakes if it's a real deal and a Muncie 4 speed. Probably a 12 bolt posi rear end as well.

 

Disk brakes where an option on 67. GM only sold a little over 14,000 camaros with front disks brakes. You should call local police first to run the vin before spending too much time on it. If its stolen they will take it from you. You can apply for a title, State laws vary but most states have a way to get a title as long as the car does not show as stolen or totaled. Some States will not re-issue titles on vins that have been totaled. There are ways of getting plates for an untitled car unless they pluged that hole up by now.

67 is the only year that has a cowl tag on the fire wall that will list all the options that were on the car from factory.

 

Thats a good idea that I need to do ASAP. The property came with multiple cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractor equipment so I'll probably make a list of VINs and head to the DMV. I have a friend that works there and can get them all checked. I finally found a highly rated body shop that will tackle fixing it. Now I am just trying to decide what engine upgrades I want to get completed. I am hoping to have everything restored in about 3 months depending on how fast engine work can be completed.

If you're planning on an engine build I'd get another block or buy a crate motor if you have the original and very rare '67 350.
Stash that rare piece of history away and run another motor so someday if you decide to part with the car you'll have it's unmolested original numbers matching engine.
That makes a lot of difference in the value of the car from a collectors point of view.
I'd wager to say you can get an engine built or bought a lot faster than the body shop will get the car back in shape,it's a major project that will take a lot of time.

 

I thought discs up front were standard on the Z28 and SS cars,rear discs were also available on the Z as a rare option.
I've only seen one with 4 wheel discs,it was a fully optioned '69 Z28 ,even had the rare cross ram intake with dual Holley carbs.

 

There’s another 350 engine in the garage sitting next to the car. Few transmissions also. I agree I will figure numbers out and see what matches then build the one that’s the duplicate. Excited to get in there and get started but waiting on final paperwork and scheduling. Hoping another week or so.
