Default 1969 help

Ok, little about myself I guess. Live in Kansas City, Mo, born and raised. My father passed when I was 15 and I recieved a 1969 Camaro in need of a total restore. Since this is the only item I have from my father I want to restore this desperately. However a lack of funds (trying to tap into the Bush Iraq fund somehow) is preventing me from doing so. This car has spent the last 14 years in storage and I have just recently taken on a second job to hopefully advance my quest. This should be an adventure a father and son would have had a great time doing, instead I will do my best on my own.Anyway, I do havea couple of questions; 1) How many Camaros rolled out in '69? 2) How many were convertibles?
I guess I should also mention something about the car. It is a '69 Camaro SS convertible. 350, 3 speed(would like to make it a 4 speed), which brings up a third question, are 3 speed common in the first generation? Doesn't seem to be many out there, but people can always change trannys. Well, thanks for letting me be apart of the website, if anyone needs a candid, experienced real estate agent for a kansas or missouri property, keep me in mind, it would be nice to one day beshowing homes in my '69! Again, thanks.

Hello, welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear about your father. It's great to hear that you want to keep his memory alive with the car. 1969 saw 36,248 V6 and 202,837 V8 of those 17,573 were conv. There were 15,866V8 convertibles built, yours might be one of those. RPO Z27 (SS option) had all 3 speed manual floor shifters.

Welcome. That would have been really nice if you and your dad had the time, he will still be as proud as ever. My dad and I have been working on a 1930 Hudson for several years, but I'de rather a 60's camaro. Good luck with your restoration ans it would be nice to see pic's of your progress.
