I just had my PCM retuned and it didn't help the lack of throttle response (I have a 6 speed manual transmission). Like you I can't even back it out of the driveway. I've replaced everything except the Ignition Control Module, MAP sensor and O2 sensors. I'm thinking of replacing the ICM next, maybe this weekend.

I know this doesn't help, but I've had the opti on my 94 off several times and to make sure I was installing it correctly the last time I made sure #1 was at TDC and double checked the wiring and position of the rotor. Didn't make any difference. I did not force the Opti on, but I can say for certain it can be installed in a number of different positions without much effort at all despite what I've heard from a number of folks on the forums. I'm with you on idling, why would it start and idle just fine and have virtually no throttle response?

weak spark, low fuel pressure, plugged fuel filter or fuel line, plugged air filter, tps failing, maf failing. thats what comes to mind right away.

Did you have the Pcm re-tuned while it was in the car or did you send it to a shop? Because while they have a computer hooked up to it in the car can't they see what the computer is seeing while its actually running?
I just went through everything again and replaced the optical sensor and the slotted disc but same result. But while i had it apart I noticed an inch long scratch on the disc and a little play in the bearing assembly. Have you checked your bearings for play? It looks like my next move is to buy a new unvented opti or swap to my '97 camshaft. This job sucks expecially because im doin this in my gravel driveway. Well good luck Ronk

I sent it out for the re-tune because we were pulling codes for an automatic transmission, I have a 6 speed manual. The re-tune took care of the transmission issue, but didn't do squat for the lack of throttle response. My opti is brand new and all the bearings seem to be good. I guess the only thing worse than doing the work in your driveway is doing it on gravel. I going to replace my O2 sensors next, I'll let you know how that turns out.

check all connectors to the coil and opti, change the harness to the opti and if that does nothing odds are you got a bad opti from the parts store. by the way have you tested the fuel pressure and your not running outa gas are yah.

You probably got a bad opti. Let us know what you find out.
