My buddy has a LT1 like a 95 or somthin.. and the distributor cap is gone bad in it.. and were gonna put the whole msd kit on it. whats involved? can u set the timing on this if so how? and dose anyone have a good cheat sheet on removale and installation on the opti spark distributor.. it dosnt look to bad to take of. just pull the water pump n then pull the distibutor.. but i dont wanna mess up no timing marks and stuff. some help would be kewl.. thanks guys.
Actually, there is a great post on the optispark distributor that was made a long time ago by z28pete (just search for it). I just read it not to long ago. There is a link in the post to a website that has the swap outlined step by step. The MSD is a great choice, seeing as though the OEM ones are onlyabout $100 less. Everyone says to just replace the whole unit instead of the cap and rotor. For the money difference they are probably right. The MSD distributor does allow you to change the timing +/- 7 degreesI believe. Good luck!!

It troubles me that you don't want to mess with the timing. That's where the power is. Take some time and research how to take advantage of power timing your engine. It does not cost anything and its free HP.
