You chop the cats off, depends on what state you are in, car wont pass emissions. Check around this forum there was another post about the cats, had some really good info.

HI,
My name is Nick, saw this post and had to sign up as a member. i have a 1994 Z28. And i have an electric Y- Pipe cutout on my car,
first of all, are u putting the electric one on your car or are u only putting the pipe with a cap you can take on and off?

DONT cut that cat off and put the Y-pipe there. it will mess up your timing because the back pressure will be lost. Plus with that cat gone, if you ever turn off you car with the Y-pipe open, the cold air from outside could rush in and crack a head. All that and as stated above you will most likely not pass smog.

the only good Y-pipes are weld on ones. The only bolts a y-pipe shoud have are the ones (3) that hold the cap or electronic flap. the pipe should be mounted after the cat and before the muffler. thats were i have mine. (huge difference is sound) and i have flowmasters.

there are 2 electric cut outs i know of:
www.quicktimeperformance.com (good poducts, bad customer service, this is the one i have, The thing i like is that they offer a digital switch that prevents over torquing, HIGHLY RECOMEND GITTING THIS SWITCH, dont want to go through 2 motors like me.
www.dmhperformance.com (heard little about the product, i know the motor and be week / bad switch)
