It's not going to hurt anything on the car. 180 lbs. is equivalent to having another passenger in the back seat.
The back brakes aren't going to be affected much either. Weight transfer during a stop throws more weight on the front brakes than the back anyway. And if you see a stretch of clear weather in the forecast, you can take the bags back out until needed again.
I'm watching the weather as well and waiting for the hit that we're supposed to get. Where abouts are your Chicago whereabouts?

Yes, the winter months are tough. Just last month I finally turned my car A/C off and opened the windows for the first time in six months. But sometimes in the morning it is just too cool, 50 or 60 degrees in December. Hell, someone has to live here and drive a Camaro.

Right but I really feel it working on the wheels as opposed to having someone in the back seat so I was just curious .

I'm in the West Chicago area - Bloomingdale/Glendale Heights. Yah we're supposed to get 6 inches in the order of wind/rain/sleet/snow (anybody feel like going car iceskating? ) tuesday night then another hit sometime before saturday of another 3-4 inches. Where you at?

See how a 2-bagger works out then. And I'm an hour or so west of Chicago, about halfway between Chicago and Rockyford.

You'll be fine with that amount of weight. What type of tires are you running? Are they at least some fairly nice all-seasons?

Kumho AS/Ts (the cheapest at the time lol) They're alright, still have to be careful after moderate/heavy rains though.

DeKalb is south of me. I'm closer to Crystal Lake (no, not that one)!

Well the way I see it is I got through my first winter with bald all-seasons, so as long as you've got some tread on there you'll be fine. lol

The main things are tires with good thread, and very light pressure on gas and brake pedals, and a steady hand on the steering wheel. No sudden moves. lol

Yupp. Well we'll see how it goes, it's raining right now then supposed to hardcore snow about an hour from now and I've gotta leave for work in 2, wish me luck.
