Default Will I have to Tune My PCM before It will Run?

Hey ive been reading all these threads about engine builds gone wrong and just wanted to check something out.. Ive been working on my stroker build for my z and am almost to the point to drop the motor in her and was wondering will it start when i get it all put togather?? Im gonna have it dyno tuned, but when I get everything put back together will it start? I did a 383 stroker overhaul, stock heads done to 2.05, comp cams xfi292 cam, crane gold 1.6rr's, 93 lt1 intake fuel rail setup (no front bar) 58mm bbk tb,CAI,10.2 wires, ngk iridium plugs, Long tubes, 3in exhaust, aluminum pulley kit,(still gotta get my 36lb injectors) .. will it start and run to the dyno??

also I seen somewhere that with the 1.6 rr's im gonna have to get the lt4 knock sensor.. if so do i need the actual sensor on the block or the module sensor on the pcm??

should start and run, not so good but it should run. the tuner should be able to tune the knock sensor for your needs.

It will run on the stock map... you will have to keep it running with the throttle though and the lt4 knock sensor is a waste of money. And it would be the one that screws into the passengers side of the block in the water jacket. The Lt4 knock sensor is slightly more sensitive and necessary for your build.

The LT1 sensor should work fine, but if you are having trouble getting the timing curve right or knocking alot you may want to upgrade the sensor. The LT4 sensor has a higher resolution so it will detect a knock sooner and help the computer compensate better. Either sensor will need to be "tuned" into your build. If you do change the sensor you will prolly need to visit the tuner again so the computer can learn how to use the higher resolution.

Your car should run on the stock tune but you are not going to be happy about how the engine performs. Get the engine dyno'd and tuned before you pass judgment on it. Also dont dive too much before the tune, improper settings can damage the new engine.

All the lt4 knock sensor is going to do is pick up a higher knock count and pull out timing. A knock count is useful for tuning, but on a n/a application i just watch afr and listen for spark knock. Half the time the knock sensors dont even give an accurate reading.
