where's the pressure?

my buddy has a 97 t/a and has recently had the timing chain and outi replaced, then had a huge oil leak from where the work was done. he fixed that but a few months later now he is losing oil pressure. when he starts it cold it has over 40 lbs. once the car starts to warm it starts to fall off and eventually gets to 0lbs. he replaced the sending unit but its the same. are there any oil pressure plagues with these motors? it has 107,000 miles. where should we start looking and what might b going on with it? im thinking about buying the car but i want to try and fix it b4 i swap my motor in it.

not sure but i think there are two oil pressure sensors. one at the back of the intake manifold for the gage and one by the oil filter for the computer. the motor should not run without oil pressure so im thinkin its the gage or sensor. if u are using a fram oil filter change it. dont use fram orange filters at all. purilator is a good one. if u are using 5w30 switch to 10w30. i have used a fram with synthitic oil and lost pressure.

I just cover this topic in the V-6 section. There is no defect with the LT1 I am aware of. This is pretty much for any motor.
