ok i have a 93 z28 stalk every thing. i think there is a oil leak or something into the opti spark. it miss fires on acceleration and back fires out the intake. ir that is what it sounds like. i need to know soon i have to bring it in. i had the guy at checker tryedto read the coad the ses light is flashing not in any order sometimes fast and sometimes slow. i think i need to replace the opti. if i could get all your input. thanks Joel

 

If oil leaked into the opti, you need to replace it, as it can cause all sorts of weird problems. You also need to get the car scanned. You need a OBDI scanner. Most part stores that do free scans only do OBDII.

 

i went to checker and it wouldent pick up any thing. i dont know if the guy dident know how to use it. is that common for opti's to leak oil. that is what some grodge said and idk if he was trying to screw me.

 

As Pete already stated, that's because that scan only works for OBDII codes, your car is OBDI. As far as the opti, I've heard of oil leaking out and getting into them, but they themselves don't leak oil. Opti failures happen, how many miles are on the car?
