Question What all do I need

Alright im lookin to cam my Lt1. Ive been lookin into buyin the LT4 hot cam kit straight from Gm. Im sure many of you know already, but it comes with 1.6 rr's, valve springs, retainers, and the locks the cam is 218 intake 228 exhaust and 525/525 lift/duration. Its a roller cam and the rocker style is full roller. I know that I will have to chip it to run with the new intake and exhaust specs. And new gaskets and seals where needed of course, along with new timin chain and cover. What I dont know is if the stock push rods will work,if the rr's will fit with the stock valve covers, and also if I will need to mess with the intake any to conform with the cams specs.

If anyone can tell me what im leavin out,or what exactly I need to modify to go with the cam it would me much appreciated.

the valve covers will be fine, im not sure what year your car is ? you can get a chip programed for your car is its pre 93, 94 and up the computer will need to be tuned.you can use the stock pushrods, however i would upgrade to some chromoly ones or a set of hardened push rods.what other mods do you have ? id suggest at least having some headers and a cat back done as well as a torque converter if its an automatic car.

Do you already have full bolt-ons? If not you shouldn't be worrying about internals yet, in order to get the full potential out of any aftermarket cam you're going to need a CAI and full header back exhaust.

I'm assuming your question about the intake is pertaining to the actual intake manifold, in which case no, you're almost never going to have to modify it. Only if you get an aggressive cam and heads that need more flow than the stock TB can provide.

Sorry alih I should have given the year, its a 94 Z28. The only thing ive done to it so far is a cold air, and had the transmission rebuilt with a kit from TCI including a shift kit. Concerning headers im goin with a set of elderbrock shorties with y-pipe. Regarding the converter I should have replaced it when I had the trans rebuilt, but i didnt have the money at the time. However the converter went out and broke loose about 2 weeks later, and im installing a 2200 stall this week as a result.

Ok sounds good.Well once you get the hot cam kit...

I would reccomend you get some new push rods and lifters, and depending on the mileage of your car, a new timing chain & gear set.

You should think about grabbing the LT4 timing chain set if you're going to be swapping it out anyway, it's a heavy duty chain and sprockets.
