Default A weld up dip stick hole?

Im fixen to change my oil because I cant check it. I had a valve cover leak so i figure its best to change it than run low.

For some reason the speed shop that built this engine seen fit to weld up the dipstick hole in the block for compressing reason, 12-1.......really? Ive never heard of that. My friend 2000hp twin turbo 427 mustang has a dip stick....lol. Was that nessary?

That is insane. I would never accept that for street use. What if you get a leak that only leaks hot and under pressure. You may not even see a spot in your drive way but in two weeks you have 500 lbs of scrap were your engine use to be.
