Water level light question

I have a 96 camaro z28 a4. My question is my water level light comes on sporadicly but the water is full. The car never runs hot and the sensor has been replaced. Anyone have thoughts on what this may be?

check the wire and the connector at the sensor. could one is failing.

About once a month mine will come on if I hit a big pothole or rough railroad tracks. I checked the wiring, connectors, etc and everything is good. When I shut it off and start it up again it doesn't come back on. Coolant level is always fine.

try cleaning the connectors with electrical cleaner and check the piece that clamps inside the connector to make sure its clamping.

My 95 did this and I had to replace the sensor again to fix it. Did you use a GM sensor or a parts store brand? I used a BWD or whatever OReilly's carries the first time, then a genuine GM sensor the second time and have had no problems with the GM sensor. Maybe it was a loose connection that I fixed when I installed the GM sensor, no telling.

Mine JUST did this today... shut it off and back on, if its still there... clean the electrical connector, and pull the sensor out and clean that too while you're down there. and if it's stilllll a problem, replace that sensor. (assuming that the radiator is in fact, full.)

I have a brand new sensor. It worked for about 10 minutes, then back on. LOLZ
Wires are intact, the connections are clean. I smeared dielectric grease on the connector terminals, and yes the radiator is full.
I'm gonna drain the rad before winter and remove the cursed thing and try cleaning the sensor probe. Maybe they get fouled with contaminats in the antifreeze. It's brand new anifreeze too. WTF

dang, mine started acting up again too. :/ I'm going to do a coolant flush and actually replace the sensor now... see where that lands me. I'll get around to it after hurricane irene is done with the east coast...

heres what shbox says. 4th Gen LT1 F-body Tech Articles
lol, in the end if you cant find anything i guess you unplug it and check your coolant level all the time.

had to replace my sensor recently too...so far so good. Definitely check the wiring. This is a known issue on these cars.
