Underdrive Pulleys

Underdrive Pulleys
So i've been reading on here that underdrive pulleys are bad for LT1s that are used for daily drivers?
I just bought a 95 Z28 with already installed underdrive pulleys and I will be using it as my daily driver. What problems will I start noticing with these pullies? I guess I just want to be informed about the possibility of the problem before it happens.
What would you all suggest / past experiences? Thanks much!

RE: Underdrive Pulleys
Underdrive pulleys on a LT1 accomplish little or nothing. The water pump, which is the big power user, is driven off the camshaft and has no pulleys. The alternator always sucks up as much power as it needs and if you slow it down the voltage may drop under load. The AC only uses power when turned on, and does not work well at low compressor speed. Power steering uses powermostly when makig hard turns. and the stering gets hard if the pump runs slow. Most uderdrive set ups do not slow down the alternator, so hopefully that is what you got.

alright - thanks for the explaination because I had no idea what the pullies even did. I have noticed that steering is a little more difficult but I thought that was because of the larger wheels/tires that im not used to. The idleing seems fine too so I guess im not too worried.
Is there any chance of these pullies causing any damage to my car?

RE: Underdrive Pulleys
I have had and underdrive pulley on for 100,00+ miles and it has caused no damage whatsoever. There is a harmonic dampener that is associated with the pulley and if you took that off it might cause damage to the motor.
