Default transmission problems?

im having problems with my my 1996 Camaro Z28.
it has the 4L60E with a shift kit.
when i just putt around it shifts fine but at WOT it shifts fine up until around 40-50mph when the rpms go up and it redlines for a while and finally shifts.

it just started doing this about a week ago.
it did shift around 5.5 and 6k rpms at WOT but it would shift quick.

i did think it was getting to much air from the intake elbow because it had a huge hole in it but i fixed that.

should i drain the tranny and refill from a fresh start?
im completely stumped on this.

im not sure what it could be.

First of all, where the shft points changed? If not, take a good look at the shift linkage making sure it is adjusted per spec. If that is OK, then transmision work is indicated. Could be weak shift solenoids or sticking shift valves. It may also be agood idea to get rid of shift kit as it is not needed on the 4L60E. All shifting parameters and feel can be adjusted by proper reprogramming the PCM.

im guessing all these valves and solenoids are inside the tranny?

where is the shift linkage?

1) Yes
2) Linkage is on outside
Try fresh fluid first

Also check the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) as it tells the PCM when full throttle is being aplied.

that makes sense. the computer gets the rpm info from the ignition and it gets its info from the sensors. could very well be the problem. should be running like crap to.

coming from someone who just rebuilt his 4L60E, it doesn't sound good to me. (hey, that rhymed)

Anyway, as you are cruising along at 45mph and gradually press the accellerator it does not slip at all?????? You have immediate power?????
