Tires

I need suggestions on tires. I have stock 95 rims so the sizing is normal, and I know I need speed rated tires, but what kind last longer and rides better?

I've found that the front tires of my son's Z last longer than the rears. I just can't figure out why ;-)

if you want longevity don't buy summer tires.

I can't help with stock sizes. I don't know if those things are 16's or 17's as I don't have stock wheels on the Z

tire rack has some info on there site, rate info like wear life and traction. give you an idea of what type of rubber to use.

Thanks guys,
Ive been looking for about a week, and I havent found anything in the 16" that I am totally thrilled over. either they are not speed rated or they are z rated and listed at 18000 miles. Im going to look some more but I have had my eye on some "vintage" (aka stereotypical, depending who you are) American Racing rims that I like. If I go for a 17" or 18" I have better options. I may post a few of the options to see if anyone has an experience with them. Thanks again.

Depends on what you are looking for. There has to be a trade off some where. If your going to run 17s then you will probably be able to go up to a 275 on the rears.

My rear tires are so bad they've started to dry rot! How could this have happened?

Back to this thread... I cant put new wheels on it this time. Ill continue saving for that adventure. I have the stock 16's like i said earlier. I need suggestions on tires from anywhere, I have looked on tirerack and tires easy and both have a very limited selection of tires for 245-50-16 W or better. I may have to settle for a discontinued yokohoma that is not bad but not great either... How wide can i go while using a stock rim. would 265-45-16 be safe? I need to buy this weekend, so this is time sensitive now, sorry I got behind.

This is what I'm looking at

tell me what you think

craby Sep 1, 2011 12:52 PM

those come in 245/50/16 why not use them.

BudBrown Sep 1, 2011 12:55 PM

thats what im saying, they come in the right size... they are one of 4... but they are discontinued... and tire rack has 11 in stock... im asking for quality sake are these worth the $ im going to put in them.
