Question timing question

I have reciently loaded pictures to my profile of my delima regardting timing. I brought the motor top dead center by placing my finger over the number one spark plug hole in the cylinder and had someone crank the motor over one turn until it had built up enough pressure in the cylinder and nearly blew my finger off. Then i double checked it by placing a screw driver inside the number 1 cylinder(making sure not to scratch the piston surface) to make sure the piston was up. When i removed the DI, the factory top dead center marker on the timing chain cover did not match up with the top dead center measurements i took off of the balancer.

You posted in the LT1 section. As far as I know there are no timing marks on LT1 front covers, as ignition timing is not adjustable. What are you trying to accomplish. What your picture shows is not a timing mark. The only timing marks in the LT1 are on the timing gears.
