Throttle control/traction control

I have a 1996 Z28 and it has recently had an issue with the throttle control (that's what I'm calling this aprticular aspect of the traction control since the traction control also inclused braking). If you've ever made the wheels slip with your traction control on you will have felt how the gas peddle will feel different while the vehicle is trying to correct. I think that the clutches or whatever make the traction control module (on top of drivers side valve cover) have worn out and do not return to normal properly. What this causes if my pedal to permantantly feel like it does when the wheels slip with traction control on. it's pretty hard to explain so hopefully you guys know what I'm talking about.

Basically I'm very sure that the traction control motor/module needs to be replaced and the dealership says it's going to cost $840 JUST FOR THE PART!!!!!! has anyone else had this problem? or had anyone else replaced that part? Would a wrecking yard have it for around $200 or would it still be like $600? how about a used one?
