Default Throttle body mods

Polishing your throttle body.
By polishing the throat of your throttle body and filing down the throttle blades
screw threads and rounding all the sharp machined edges. You will increase the total air flow into the engine. You will NOT believe the increase in power for very little money this mod. will do.
It will not matter if its a factory throttle body or a aftermarket throttle body V8, V6, or a 4 banger, turbocharged nitro or even a carb. this will work. Because we are reducing the parasitic drag on the inside surfaces of the throttle body and butterfly. Just as polishing the intake and exhaust boles increase performance, so will this mod.
What you will need is gasket remover spray, gasket scraper, and some 1500, 2000, 2500 sand paper. Remove the throttle body and undo the throttle spring. ( take pictures and mark everything you remove if you have not done this before. ) and the idle air control valve. clean the throttle body. Then using small peaces of sand paper, starting with 1500 and on up to 2500 for polishing. Do not change the diameter of the throttle throat where the throttle butterfly blades meet the throttle bore!
Now using a fine metal file and carefully filing the screw threads down even with the butterfly shaft. Now your done.
You may want to use wd40 on the gasket and after recleaning the throttle
body, spray with wd40 to prevent corrosion.

This will also work with the mass air flow sensor. (But be very careful and do not break the sensor wires.)

that's a clean throttle body and here's a tip

during the summer, you may want to bypass the coolant hose that goes to your throttle body. Why would you want to heat up your intake air temp?

i don't think you will get much from this unless you're really flying and forcing more air into your engine at higher speeds.

Holy bump batman

I don't believe that anyone does this hoping to get a performance increase. Cleaning it is always a good idea.

if there were good gains to be had for free then there would be articles and articles written on the topics.

If you don't have the cash for bolt ons or a tune, then pay 20 cents more per gallon and run premium fuel. The computer won't detect knock and will advance the timing thus improving performance.
