Default Throttle Body Cleaning

While replacing my thermostat I noticed that the inside of the throttle body looks really dirty. Before the flaps its really clean, but past the two flaps it looks black and greasy, is it supposed to be like this?

Is there anything that will need to be adjusted after I take it off and put it back on, like idle, etc.?

You don't need to take anything apart on the throttle body itself to clean it. Go to Auto Zone, or any parts store, and get a spray can of throttle body cleaner (not carb cleaner). With the engine running, spray the cleaner into the throttle body as you feather the throttle by hand. All the the built up varnish & gunk will dissolve and get burned up by the engine, leaving it shiny-new. If your TB is really gunky, you can spray it first with the engine off, scrub it with a toothbrush, then start the engine and spray it again.

No, I don't have it off, I just had the air intake tube off so I could see in the TB, but the only reason I was going to take it off was because I thought that junk couldn't get in the engine, but if you say it just burns away that's fine then, easier for me

No problem, also when I try to start the car with the air intake off it just shuts off after a second or two...
