Just remeber, this never fails...
The minute you get rid of it, the new owner will make a $50- $150 fix and it will never have a problem again... dont get rid of it... take your time, be patient, it will be awesome.

Yeah, i had a similar experience before. I had a little 87 S-10 ext cab, loaded with Tahoe package power everything, really nice. It died on me one day and wouldnt start again. I messed with it for awhile to no avail. I wound up selling it for money to move for half of what i paid for it. The guy i sold it to found the coil wire was grounding against the fender well. $6 and it was as good as new.

You bought an (almost) 20 year old car. Unless the previous owner went through and replaced every mechanical wear component, your going to have to put money into it yourself. Then you also have issues like the previous owner butchering wiring or stuff like that. I little research goes a long way before buying a vehicle. My 94 has 180k. I KNOW it needed some rebuilding. For example, I had to immediately invest in an opti, plugs, wires, ICM, IAT, TPS, MAP, IAC, EGR/solenoid AND a code scanner so I could work on it myself. The I had to put an AC compressor on it to get air conditioning. Now I find out I got to put a steering rack on it. It's all part of owning an older vehicle. If your not financially ready to support it, you should have invested your money into a newer vehicle. Not being a smart a$$ or anything, but you have to realize what your getting yourself into.

I didnt do the replacement. The opti was replaced by the previous owner a week before i got the car. It was a RichPorter opti. I still have the box it came in and the old one. Somewhere (fingers crossed) i have the receipt from oreillys for the $240 something that he paid for it a month ago.
