Cool supercharger, turbo or nitrous ???

I've got a 95 chevy camaro Z28 6 speed with a LT1 350 (new motor). I'm wanting to add more HP but, not wanting to spend that much money, around $3000.00. What should I do? If I go nitrous and headers what kind is best? Could I get a turbo for that price? If so what kind?

May we assume that presently it's stock?

First, let's look at your $3k. What is "around $3k" ?

Next- are you prepared to do all of the work yourself?

If not, allow 1/2 for labor (it may be less but be safe)

so, the first thing you do is inhale and exhale better

CAI and LT headers followed by a Y pipe and then a catback. Whoops, you are already at around $800 - $1000 in parts depending on what you buy.

Now it takes in more air and exhales better. Take it for a ride and see if you like it.

You should also change the wires and plugs while doing this so another $100, again, assuming you are doing all of the labor.

Try that first and see if it satsifies your craving.

A Procharger for example is going to cost around $6,000 for the parts alone.

An STS rear mount turbo is a little cheaper at $3,000 for parts.

(None of the above include installation, but do come with beefier injectors, etc..)

yeah at this point i think supercharging it would be a bad idea...start with the basics and work your way up

you said its a new engine? well i would start by throwing N2O out the window! nitro on a stock engine is never good no matter what the car is! if its bone stock i would do what toqure said intake and full exhaust. then go a little electrical with wires and spark and stuff. then open her up and do some cam/injectors/rear end gears. after all that except the rear end gears then i would look at forced induction.

depending on how well the new engine is with compression you might want to replace seals and mabye higher pressure pistons so you can run the boost you obviously are hungry for!

summerized parts: (if bone stock) intake, headers, exhaust of your likeing, injectors/electrical, cam, then worry about high hp

^^^+1

What is it with folks today? No one wants to start out with the basics and then work up. Come on people there's other ways to get power besides forced induction or nitrous.

spray it with a 125 shot, stock everything... you can spray that much safely, without a tune, just make sure it is a wet shot. Take the rest of the money that you have left over and start where everyone else does.

125 is not safe! he will use it over and over agian and that will wear down his seals like crazy! he will end up blowing his engine!

Your not going to be able to go boosted for 3K. Even a used kit will run around that and there are lots of added cost. Injectiors, Fuel pump, and other parts will add up. Plus you will need to have the car dyno tuned in to get the AFR and timing right.

If the car is stock or near stock headers and a nice little cam can wake up a LS1 and make her sound pretty damn sweet.

do the work your self and its easy,

intake, cat back exhaust $600 minimum

headers from $250

cam $400

heads and valvetrain $1700

oh, were out of cash!! but some where around 400+ rwhp or good for 12s with stock gears in the rear

Sorry but in my oppinion n2o is not a good plan, who seriously wants to pay for a refil, and have to press a button to go faster, if its not under my foot in the go pedal its not worth having!
