can you give a link to the specific box you are looking at?

many of those boxes, like the MSD for example, are pretty much universal, they just require a harness to make sure the plugs match those on your car. but the box itself is all the same, you cannot however switch between 4cyl, 6cyl, and 8cyl with ignition products unless there are switches on the unit.

this is going to be true of all SBC's (I believe), which the lt1 is built off of. even tho it is optispark the ignition system is still distributor based. this wont be true of the LS1 since it is COP and has a different firing order

Any specific reason for wanting to upgrade?

I was told that they will really improve the performance aspect of your car. More throttle response, and power.

Here is the link..

without alot of work you really do not need a new ignition. You are probably better off getting the MSD optispark replacement http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...304+322383+115

again, this isnt completely necessary for you especially if you are near stock. personally i wouldnt upgrade the ignition system unless I had some sort of forced induction and/or bigger displacement. a head/cam 383 stroker may see some gains worth the cash from a multispark system, but stock u are better off buying boltons if u actually want results from ur dollar

well funny you should ask...... There just happens to be a schnazzy new writeup in the 4th gen section stickied at the top (just click the red "4th Generation" link at the top or bottom of this thread). its purpose is specifically for helping people figure out where to start modifying, or continue modifying if they have some work done.

go check it out

in all seriousness, i wrote it, and would appreciate a little input on it from someone it was directed towards, to see how helpful it is in achieving its purpose. so if u go check it out send me a PM if anything is confusing or if i go on weird tangents that dont actually help u understand the how and why of bolton performance. it says something in the name like -where to start modding

Man, that guide sucks

mbennettz28: The only reason you would need to upgrade your opti is if you're planning on building the motor for high RPM applications, the average opti is good until you're over about 6000 RPM and then they can't produce a spark fast enough and the motor will start misfiring. Other than that the Opti is a pretty good setup as long as you don't get it wet [>:]
