Are you having any drivability problems? Putting on a new intake is obviously going to change the sound as well as replacing the intake elbow which eliminates the resonator that is in place to reduce intake noise. If I recall correctly the EGR should be almost inactive at initial startup as well as idle. If you're not having any other issues I probably wouldn't worry about it.

Craby, when I had my SLP CAI on my car, it always had a wicked sucking noise, kinda like a jet engine. It was always there even when it was warm. I would say it's just your CAI, easy way to tell, take the filter off and see if it makes the same sound.

I would agree with both. Most factory setups are designed to quiet down or silence this noise. An aftermarket cold air intake isn't going to have any silencers on there.

a cai will make a differnet sound than stock...i've noticed the sound on every vehicle i've put one on. i'd say you did things just right and have nothing to worry about

That's not a "bad" sucking sound, it's a good one!
A cold engine runs with a richer air/fuel mix, and that's why it sounds different.
But, now you can hear it better with your new open filter.

ok i was hoping it was the resonator being gone. it was the first time i started it cold with the new stuff on and it really caught me off guard. sounds just like a really bad vacuum leak, my mpg has been getting bad but i think thats the trany and/or torque converter.

If you had a bad vacuum leak you would notice some pretty heavy hesitation. If you don't have any issues, no worries, enjoy your new intake sound!

it was the bbk tb making the noise. changed it all back to stock and no more noise. a little but not hardly noticeable except the good noise when wot. now could that be because i have a really old style tb or do all bbk tb's make more sucking noise. talked to elliotts and he is recomending a 58mm tb once i get everything together. i was wondering what is the better tb.
