Default Steering linkage

I just installed pacesetter lts on my 97 z28. I had to disconnect the steering linkage to install the drivers side header. Problem is, now that im done I cant get the steering back together. I got it off through a series of prying and hammering. I tried that method to put it back on but no luck. Anybody have similar problems or any insight??

are the headers in the way? If so, the headers probably are not tightened down.

The drivers side header will come very close to the linkage. You can't keep the plastic sleeve on the linkage.

No I have plenty of clearance with the header. I cant get the linkage to pop back on. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about.

glad to hear you got it in. Did you connect the top first this time and then do the bottom?

that's how I did mine

Actually I couldnt get the bottom off. We took the impact gun to it and still no luck. Thats why it was so hard to get this back on because you couldnt line it up correctly. What I ended up doing was loading a ton of bearing grease on it, getting it halfway and taking a hammer to it. After lots of hitting and turning the wheel I finally found the sweet spot on it popped on.
