i finally had the chance totake my 93 z28 camaro the stealership for a dianostic test to find what is going on with my car. the tech told me that he test drove the car an said he couldnt complete the test there for they cant run a dianostic on it because the tranny is acting up. so i ask him how is it the tranny acting up i just had it rebuilt. anyway they didnt charge me. i could not believe that. so now im stuck with wandering what the heck is wrong with my car. now i know you guys are going to say take back to where you the tranny was rebuilt. i would but that should rebuilt the tranny in my car 5 times within a year the last time the guy told me my warranty is out. so im not going back to them ever again. my car syptom is the car takes off good but once it hits first gear it boggs down then it takes off again then boggs down when it shift to the next gear.

Im confused... What did the dealership do wrong here? They didntcharge youany money or make you worse off than you were before. How are they a "stealership"?

he was referring to the high labor rates you find at a dealership. spartan...you should know about the dealership. didn't you take your car to one and they said you needed a new motor or something?

i did more or less. but i was looking for a diagnostic and i got exactly that. Dealerships rates are high because their techs are trained by themanufacturer they work for and they have direct access tothe manufacturerif they need parts or something of that sort. Its not just dealerships its everyone. When i had my Blazer it failed emissions and so i had to go getan emissions specialist to fix it.. but he toldme for 150 bucks he would diagnose the problem (even tho i knew what was wrong) and just sign the waiver... I paid him 150 bucksfor his friggin signature..Then he told me i just needed afuel tank pressureswitch and it would cost me 700 bucks... I went and bought one from autozone for 20 bucks and installed itin under an hour and a half... All in all, its not cheap toHAVE your car fixed...no matter where you turn. Not to mention dealerships are more thorough in their repairs. a regulartranny service would just be taking the old fluid out, filteringit and putting it back in. A dealership will generally drain your old, put in new and change the fluid in your torq converter.

process of elimination is always the best way. Once you determine what isn't the problem then you will discover what is. You must always look toward clogged fuel filter and also a bad spark plug or wire, or cracked dist cap, or bad rotor or distributor. Yeh, it's a pain to do it yourself but; it's rewarding when it's done and that full feeling in your wallet is because you did it yourself.

This is true. Ive replaced the exhaust manifold on my Eclipse, did an oil change, spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, a motor mount and a transmission mount. I even got new hatch struts and installed those. I had the dealership service my tranny because it takes special fluid and they did the TQ converter too. So far i havent spent more than a grand in repairs. probably under 600. Now tack on all the labor rates and youve spend ALOT lol. Im thinking of getting a junkyard transmission and a rebuild kit and installing it myself because a 1700 tranny overhaul isnt worth it on a 2k car. It will be fun too because ive never done a tranny overhaul. great learning experience.
