I have a 1995 z28 with about 120'000 mi it has been sitting outside this winter and not been driven . I tried to start it last week and not a sound battery was dead glove box not shut all the way., bought new bat put bat in turned key got loud clunk tried a few times still clunk like the starter is frozen before I parked it for the winter it started ok.A few days later I gave it another try it started right up no grinding or any other than normal sounds. Went ouy to start it today just clunk. I should say that on the days it wouldn't start it was near or around freezing and on the day it started it was about 50 degrees.what is going on ?

I'd say that you have your finger on the problem, the starter.

A simple fix for the problem

A: replace starter

B: move to a location at 30 degrees or less lattitude
