Default Special oil

So I was under my hood yesterday checking my fluid levels something I like to do every week or so and I noticed the oil cap says special oil only. So what does that mean?

Synthetic, it's what GM recommended. I don't know about the LT1 Camaro, but the LT1 Vettes came from the factory with Mobil 1 in the crankcase.

I would think 5w30 like most over small block chevys.. It says in the owners manual. If you dont have one shoot me a PM and I can hook you up

i use 5w30 mobil one in my stroker, it should be more than sufficient for your car as well.

69, i did not realize GM used mobil 1 from the factory...good to know!

I like to use 10w30, since mine is a summer car.
As in my LT1 Vette, GM dropped the use of a separate oil cooler, and put in synthetic oil instead. I guess that says something about the stuff. Like I said though, I'm not positive they treated the Camaro the same way, but synthetic is still recommended. The Vette always got the better bells & whistles from the factory. Maybe for the Camaro it was only a recommendation, but not given to you when you bought the car new?
I'm sold on synthetic, and put it in everything (motor oil, gear lube, brake fluid). Regular oil is from the dinosaur age.

that's all i use as well. now that i think about it, i'm pretty sure my stroker has 10w30 in it as well.

and i just went and looked at the SLP sticker from my car and it says "performance lubricants package" which i assume means all the fluids are synthetic. so its quite possible that a z28 did not get synthetic fluids.

Oh, so that could mean that an SLP might be considered to be a notch closer to the Corvette Elite?
