I think the LT1 is the only rev coolant motor based on the older design. Short blocks from some Caddies and buicks will work.

Ya, a 98 LT1 96 was the last year for Buick and Caddy, I found the below on a History of the LT1 website. Most likely the guy has no idea what he is talking about. When I bought my engine and tranny the guy thought they where out of a 93 Vett, GM never put a T-56 in 93, turns out is was out of a Trans Am equipt with the hvy M29 tranny. which was exactly what I was looking for

"97 The last year for the LT1 and available only in the F-body cars. The new C5 or fifth generation Corvette came equipped with the new third generation smallblock; an all new, all aluminum 5.7L with no resemblance to the 1st or 2nd generation small blocks"

Around me I am seeing a lot of buick and caddy LT1's complete motors around 100K selling for $400 I am not sure if it is the time of the year or people are just tired of messing with the LT1's. Last year at this time they where all like $700

so i got the shortblock 250$ and it came with another oil pan valve covers 2 oil pumps an opti that from the outside looks pretty good and a waterpump... i think i got a pretty good deal... anyways shes a little dirty (the guy said it had been sitting in his garage on a stand for a couple mths) so is there any cleaner i can spray on the motor to clean her up that wont harm the rotating assembly (i want to clean the valley too theres a little sludge)... over all im pleased with what i got
