Is it the shift linkage

Vehicle : 1995 Z8 M6

Ok, so I don't know what my issue is, but my gear selector is all the way up and to the left (like way past where 1st should be), but the car is in reverse (the reverse backup lights are on). Any ideas? We had to pull the driveshaft to move the car...

How can that be physically possible?
I couldn't even imagine the fork jumping out else that's the only gear you
Have? I highly doubt the reverse lockout solenoid would do that either?
I realize that isn't much help but I like to see what happened so calle curious george lol

All of the gears were fine. The issue was with the shifter rail. I am going to just get a junkyard tranny for the time being, then rebuild this one to hold a lot of power. Should be fun!

looks like some metal shavings in there. at least you found the problem.

Yeah. It just sucks because I have to wait 2 weeks to go to the boneyard... IT's ok, though. I am actually surprised at how simple a manual transmission is. At least compared to the A4...

No, I have to wait because that's when I get paid. End of the month and all the bills are due. I do have a question about manuals. I use ALLDATA. Is that as good, better or worse than the factory service manual?

Lmao rebuilding a T56 on your lap isn't the best way on going about it, but it seems like it's working for you!
