check your main computer, aka ecu/pcm. its on the passenger side between the wheel well and the firewall. see if it looks like it got sprayed bad. pull plugins and check for moisture. have you checked for spark at the plugs?

check the igniton fuse. make sure the wire harness for the opti is dry. theres should be a connecion up on the intake manifold on passenger side, about half way. opti harness goes from the main harness to the opti. the opti harness is a common failure point so doing the tests in the link i gave earlier will tell if harness is failing or if main computer is sending and getting info it needs.

ignition fuse is good. harness from opti to the connector on the passenger side manifold is new (came with the new opti). I just took out the computer, disconnected and reseated the plugs and the chip. No moisture was evident. she did fire once and backfired the quit so at least i have life now!

question? where exactly is the cap and rotor on this thing? and, if it seated properly against the block, there is no way it got "out of time" right? I mean, it is keyed and all. The thing went on tight but it did go on and I did not have t beat it or anything.

1994. I took it all apart and put it back together. WE HAVE LIFE!! lol...apparently you can put it in the wrong way. ONly now I have a miss at high RPM'S. But she starts right up and idles good, good low speed acceleration, just when I get on it, it misses, stutters backfires. Hopefully it's because everything is new and this OBD1 computer takes a few driving cycles to relearn everything since I disconnected the battery so many times.

if you got it in wrong you may have damaged the opti. in order to get the splined shaft in without the missing tooth section lining up right it pushes on the center of the opti and most times ruins it right off.
