rev limiter on 1/8th mile issue
i went to the track today (1/8th mile) and i was very disappointed. i was running 10s and one 9.8. i have an a4. From 2-3 and 3-4,(it may have been 1-2,2-3,what ever makes sense in 1/8 mile) i was hitting the rev limiter and id have to let off alot for it to shift.
now im not for sure what this could be. my tranny fuild is newer and was at the right level. i have no tune with the following upgrades: cai, 58mm tb, ported intake, newer opti, plugs, wires, accel 300+ ignition module, pacesetter lt, custom y pipe and cutout before rear axel.
i heard it might be tranny but ive never had any issues with it at all. the car has 90xxx miles. and if it matters my speedometer is off by about 4mph

If you have changed rear gears and not had the trans part of the computer tuned to the new gears it will throw off your shift points. Also are you manually shifting or letting the trans do the work? There is a slight delay if you are trying to shift without a manual shift body in the car.

ok, ill order the tuning cable then. i dont manually shift, i have 2nd,d, and od.. no its really not an option for me.. im 95% sure the gears are stock. when i bought the car i was told it was bone stock too. So my issue isnt clutch bands or anything like that? i was worried about my tranny when it happened. i read in anouther forum bout ajusting the pressure (i think) in the tranny some how.. could that be it for me?

gears are 3.23, i read that i could be the 3-4 clutchband, speed sensor, not enough pressure, or the tune went bad? im ordering a tune now, but should i bringit buy a tranny shop and have them check it out?

If you have other things bad or possibly bad, getting a tune will not help, it will just make everything else worse. I would take it to a trans shop that can be trusted and see what they have to say.

Even if the speedo is off by 4, the difference it would make is minimal. In stock form, the trans should definitely up-shift without having to lift the gas pedal, and shift points shouldn't be near the rev limiter. Are you getting any error codes? How long have you owned the car, and has it always shifted like that? Possible that a previous owner installed a shift kit?

i might have to bring it to a tranny shop.
i have owned the car for 6mnths. and i really dont run threw the gears at wot. this is the first time, usually i let off before it shifted. the previous owner did no upgrades at all. ill look for error codes, but i had it checked 2mnths ago, and it said opti, but it went away
