question about gears
Hydra-matic 4L60E Automatic 4-speed with Overdrive
1st: 3.06
2nd:1.63
3rd:1.00
4th:0.70
Reverse:2.29
Maximum Upshift MPH
1-2nd: 48mph 2-3rd:93mph 3-4th:150mph= 2.73 Axle
1-2nd: 36mph 2-3rd:73mph 3-4th:126mph= 3.23 Axle (performance axle)
does this mean that if im shifting from 1st to 2nd at 48 that i have 2.73 gears? all my stickers are gone as well as the spec plate on the bold on the axle

Unless the transmission has been swapped out, you have the 4L60E. If it has been swapped, then you need to find out what gear ratios you have before you can tell what rear end gears you have. Did you try checking your option codes in the glovebox? If those haven't been ripped out, you'll either have GU4 or GU5, being 2.73 and 3.23 respectively.
95slvrZ28 is correct. GM put the 4L60E in Camaros starting in 94. The 700R4/4L60 (no E) was used in 93 and earlier cars. To put a 700R4 in your 96 car is not a straight in & out job. TV cables needs to be added, the thorottle body is different due to the extra cable, and the PCM need to be reprogrammed to avoid lighting the trouble lite. Don't cofuse the cruise control cable with the TV cable.
