Default Question

considering the LT1 swap into my v6 i have the donor car and motor and the shop space to do it im not asking for crticism on that but wondering if it would be able to use obd2 computer on a 94 car i have to factor in the fact that car must still be able to pass smog

94 has a obd1.5 97 has obd2 but the 6 ecm will not work for a lt1 motor. u can use the obd1.5, which is a obd1 ecm with obd2 hookups, but u i believe u will need to change wiring under dash and the gage cluster and wiring under hood. not sure whats going to need to be changed to acomidate the vats system. it would be best to use a 97 v8 computer if u can but i think u would need the dash and stuff from it too.

again the v6 has a different wiring for the ecu, pretty sure that will need to be changed, not sure if the 97 has the newer style gage cluster i know it changes sometime after 93 cause i bought one thinkin it would fit in my car. not sure if its still around though. ill keep an eye out for it. anyways the motor is a lt1 and all the stuff from the 94 will fit in your car. im still thinkin u may have to change the dash for the gage cluster to fit.

96 will have the same dash, 97 will be updated.

Remember, anything is possible with enough time and money. Ideally you would want a PCM from a 96. Then you should just have to run a few extra sensors and potentially rewire the OBDII port. It would probably be best if you picked up a Vehicle Service manual for both years that your swapping from / to.

You can't retune a 93 because the used the MEMCAL chips (unless you have the specific hardware to burn them), you can retune anything 94+.
