Default programming remote

I have a 1996 z28 SS. When I purchased the vehicle it did not come with a remote for the keyless entry/alarm system. I have recently bought one. Does anyone know how to program it? Is there special equipment required??

Your owners manual should have instructions for programming your remote. If you can get your hands on the GM F-body shop manuals there is a more detailed version in there. It took me a couple of tries with the "glove box bible" but I managed to get a pair of new fobs to work for me.

Good luck!

on my 97 z you take the radio fuse out (make sure if it has theanti theft armedyou know the number first) close the doors turn the key on off on off on off and the doors should lock then have both remotes handy and program both by pushing unlock or lock button.
