Default Price

I went up to a small dealer today. They have a 96 LT1 Camaro for sale. The asking price is $3500. It has many upon many defects in it.

No radiator fluid
Oil is dark dark black and is barely on dipstick.
Transmission fluid is barely on dipstick
Its leaking fluid in multiple spots under the car.
There is NO oil pressure being read on gauges
Brake fluid is low
Power steering fluid is dry.
It has over 200,000 miles on it.
That's all I noticed within the first 5 minutes of looking at it.

How much would you pay for this? My plan was to purchase it and rebuild it, I don't even know if its worth offering anything. The interior is pretty decent except for a huge rip in the drivers seat.

What're you thoughts?

wow...sounds like its in pretty bad shape. i'd say a grand to 1500 would be more than enough.

$3,500 is a lot for a car with a junk engine.
$1,000 might be more realistic. It's either a parts car or an engine transplant recipient.

I'ld look for a factory six-speed! But if you prefer auto and the numbers match go for it. Sounds like a fun project?

Our original intent for a Z28 was to build it up and race. Legally of course.

Update on this

Went to talk to the owner of the dealership. They dropped the price by $1000, so now they're asking $2500. The guy said its "still a Z28 LT1". I looked, laughed and walked out.

Ha..ha...it's more like a "Z28 LT1 that's standing still".

Man, 96 was a good year too. I would get it if I wanted another Z-28. That is a good price if it's all original?

if the car still runs than its worth 2500 and u have to figure its at a stealership. If it was taken care of them LT1 motors ive seen with 315k miles on them still ticking. but if ur buying a car to make a legal stree car. Than id suggest find a car without a motor and building the motor.

That's a good deal on a LT1 original motor. I offered my Camaro Z-28 for even trade on a brand new SS 2010 Camaro but their was no takers!
