Default Preparation for re-build...

Alright guys I was thinking before I do the motor rebuild in the 96 Maro... I was thinking about doing new suspension and brakes and rear end... Does anyone have any recommendations for suspension like what is a good setup... hopefully something not too low because mine sits real low atm. Rear end im going to do a ford 9 inch so I have that covered... and how can I save a little money on brakes, I think 1300 bucks is a bit steep

Upgrade to the LS1 brakes. Its a twin piston alum. Calipers and 11" rotor. You will need the spindles, brakets, caliper off a 98 or newer and some decent rotors and pads. All in all the upgrade can be done pretty cheap. I have a friend with a 2002 that just upgraded to the bear brakes. He is very disapointed because they are not much better then stock.

Why are you going with the Ford rear? you caould get the rear from a LS car get the brake upgrade and a rear that was designed to handle 350 HP.

You could also add a set of Koni shocks and 34mm these came stock on the WS6 and some SS's. They will not lower your car unless you get the adjustable spring mounts.

Good idea on the brakes... but the rear end will need to handle more than 350 HP so maybe a 12 bolt upgrade and have it built?

absolutely nothing wrong with a 9" or a 12 bolt for your car. they make them specifically for f-bodies.

but if you're not doing anything motor wise then you shouldn't need either of those

u can do the rear later, its not any easier with the motor and trans out so might as well use the stock one for a while. im torn between the 12 bolt and 9 in myself. i have read the 9 inch is quiter so im leaning that way.

if you're a racer, a 9" is easier to swap gears in and out
