performance axle ratio

I just picked up my 93 Z28 Sunday and was wondering what rear end ratio was offered on the G92 RPO code "performance axle ratio"? Also, this car has a Jet stage 2 performance module and shifts very good. I was just wondering if anyone has both the chip and a shift kit installed? How much difference is there with a shift kit over just having the chip? I want to install a shift kit but if the chip is just as good I will save my money.

Thanks!!!!

RE: performance axle ratio

The 93 modelthe car has a 4L60 transmission, and the chips do nothing for the transmission, because it is not electronic, and theonly thing the chip can possibly control is the torque converter clutch. Later model cars used the 4L60E transmission which is computer controlled. The performance axle option for automatic transmission was 3.23, theeconomy ratio was 2.73.

If you like the way the transmission shifts now, leave it alone. Personally, I don't like the harsh shifting for daily use, but they help on the drag strip.

Thanks for the info!! This is my first F body and I'm trying to learn all I can about them. I also have a C3 Corvette. So far the Z28 has exceeded my expectations and I've only had it for two days.
