Overheating got my stumped

timing chain is most likely fine. lt1 has a good stock chain. never heard of one jumping a tooth. water pumps are good to, the only thing they do when they go bad is leak a bit off coolant. still pump. never heard of a lt1 water pump not pumping. how does everything look? any crudd in there? did you clean and dry the opti right away? i would certainly change the opti if i had a new water pump and had it apart, thats of coarse if the opti is old. new plug wires would be easier to install now as well.

Not sure how old the opti is. I just bought the car last week with 70k miles. I think I will go ahead and change it...even though that's more money.
Yeah well I was WOT when I heard a screeching from the engine...after that I couldn't get any coolant to flow through the system. All signs point to a messed up water pump. Unless there's somthing else?!

Yeah. I kinda decided while its apart to just change everything I'm uncertain about.
Got a new timing chain, waterpump, thermostat, radiator, radiator cap, MSD Opti spark, spark plugs and spark plug wires, drive belt, an belt tensioner.
Well....I hope that fixes the problem. Lol

well good news is that msd optispark is great and the entire side of our motor is gunna be like brand new so you wont have to worry too much i would say its easier just to replace when buying used just to put mind at easy then to just hope everything is ok
