Smile Huston we have FIRE!!!

After replacing the new icm that tested bad I also bought a new coil since that was the only piece left that wasn't new, I still had no fire. I had already checked the 10amp fuse that GrayDoug had suggested but thought what the heck. Well it was 10amp and was good but........ upon installing it back into the fuse block I noticed that it just kinda fell into the slot. I tightened up the little ears that hold the fuse and WALAA on the second attempt the car fired up and ran surprisingly well since it had not fired up since April of 2013.

Thanks so much to all the people here for your suggestions, without them my next step was to stuff a rag into the tank, light it and send the car off down the hill. At least I would have seen spark out of it then.

Thanks again everybody for your help. Now comes the fun of putting everything back together that I didn't take apart.

So the new ICM tested bad? Did you test the replacement before leaving the store?

I guess the intermittent power caused the damage to the ICM's. Just the same as a flakey ground would, like craby suggested.

No, didn't test the replacement b4 leaving the store though I did think about it. I'm just wondering if the loose fuse connection wasn't what was wrong all along. The po put two opti's and a different icm and coil on with no results so I'm thinking it probably was. Fwiw I now have a completely new ignition system.

I would absolutely go back to that store and ask them to test another new one. If it fails, you have a case for being able to return any you bought thinking they were bad. I would also get all yours tested at another chain's store.

Ok guys got the waterpump on and working on putting the whatyoumacallit thing on drivers side of engine. What is this thing called? And more important what size and length screws/bolts hold this thing on? I have the bracket mounted but can't find any screws/bolts that will fit to hold it on. Remember I bought this thing disassembled and not running, solved the running problem with yawl's help, thanks again, and just trying to get it back together. I'm sure this wont be the last post before I get it back on the ground under it's own power.
