odd knocks at 3500 rpms
 
i was wondering if someone could coud help me out? i have a 94 LT1 with a V6, when i get to about 3500-4000 rpms to shift it starts knocking really bad. thought if might be plugs and wires changed them and still does it. any one got anything

It's it knocking or ticking? If it's knocking it could be a couple of things, rod bearing or wrist pin. If it's ticking it could be several things-cheap gas,cam,lifters,valves,optispark. Hope this helps,when you get it fixed let use know what was wrong.

Yes LT-1 is a V8.....maybe he made a typo

It sounds like spark knock (ping) as it seems to be affected by load. The thing is to find out why. Is the SES lite on? Make sure the knock sensor is good an screwed on tight, make sure the knock sensor module is good. Also, has someone messed with the computer? You should be using premium fuel, this engine was designrd for it.

no its definatly a loud obnoctious knocking im bout to say forget it and take it to the dealership that i bought it from and say fix it and its going to be free

In that case, take it back to the dealer and get them to fix it while the warranty is still good.

tell them to check the whole car and fix everything, probably need intake manifold gasket by now anyway.
im guessing its a lifter or bearing.

i took it back and they are going to replace the entire engine while im out on deployment so im good to go now thanks for that
