the lifters are what i too am wondering about i set them not running i did the #1 tdc then the exhaust and intake of the ones that where listed in the book. then i did tdc on 6 and did the last of them. i was worried that when i was tightening down the 3/4 turn the valve springs started to collapse but i read that they do that with used lifters and they will self adjust.

try resetting them while its running, its not bad with the lt1, it doesnt squirt oil like the old sbc. gotta take the alternator out but its ok without the belt to set the valves.

That two step static adjustment you did by the book is fine, AS LONG AS you intend to readjust the valves with the engine running method. As a set and run blanket adjustment, it sucks.
If you don't want to set the valves while running the engine, there are better ways to adjust them so that you get the lifters on the heel of the cam lobes, such as this way: Valve Adjustment

ok so i re did the valves i tryed to do the running method but ended up ajusting the intake right as the exhaust started to open and such and they where all right.

This is where things got bad

It did not run any better after i got it all back together but it has stoped warming up i decided to try my hand at flashing my pcm to see if starting the cooling fans at a lower temp would help a little that all went fine and work i decided to flash back and as C.A.T.S. was connecting the cable got unpluged and now i think my PCM is fryed im looking for posts on this.

So, are you back to the original problem? Or is it running correctly now?
