new guy ? oil pressure on 94 z
 

HI. new here and new to the lt1, i have a 80 z and a 84 z and want a fourth gen as a driver. i went and test drove a nice 94 z today, 93 thousand miles. the owner has had it for 9 years, had 88 thou on it when he bought it, has all service records. new fuel pump,tires brakes and temp gauge. i drove it and it has great power, a very small amount of top end noise (very minimal). it ran about 220ish temp and when warm 18 to 20 psi oil pressure at idle. i thought that was low, i revved and held idle at 1500 and it would run 40 psi. i have searched this low oil pressure issue and it seems to be normal, but want someone to tell ME its ok and not just assume by other posts read. he only wants 4,500 for the car....... what do you think.

18 to 20 psi at idle is well within specs. The factory calls for a minimum of 5 PSI at idle, and 40 PSI at 1500 RPM is excellent.

thanks, got nervous when i saw it low, 20 psi isnt really that far from the red on the gauge and it made think RED FLAG. but holding at 1500 i felt better about the reading. just wanted some knowledge before i layed the money down.
