need help ASAP
my 94z died while I was drivin. I had the battery and alternator tested and they were good. it's on the side of the highway and it's rainin pretty hard out now. any suggestions before I gotta get it towed to a shop

is it turning over at all. if so maybe spray the opti and coil with pb blaster or wd or 556. could be the water is causing a loss of spark.

There either was a loose connection or when you put them back on you tightened something to an extent that it wasnt before. I'm sure there was spark to the opti but there wasnt a secure connection I suppose? Did you happen to drive through any large puddles?

no i didnt go through any puddles. i checked connections and even tried jumping it and nothing worked. but after i put the battery and altenator back in it statred right up. i think im gonna replace the starter, altenator and neg and pos cables jus to be safe

Replacing the battery cables may be a good idea, but I don't think that they were your initial problem.
If the alternator tested good, why replace it? The starter would not just cause the car to die while running.
I agree that you may have had a loose or corroded connection that took care of itself when you reinstalled the battery and alternator.
The only thing that I could think of off the top of my head, would be that something got wet while you were driving it in the rain. Or, your fuel pump is on the way out.

I had this happen after i changed the alternator in my car. Turned out that a ground on it was just a little loose, from vibration I guess because it was a couple of days after. You couldn't tell until we put a wrench on it (almost finger tight), but after we tightened it all was good and I haven't had a problem since.
