Default MSD Pro Billet Optispark Vs LS1 coil swap.

My opti is starting to go on my 94 LT1 383 stroker.. I was wondering if i should go with the MSD opti, or the LS1 coil swap?

Thanks,
Eric

Depends on what part is going on the opti. The LS1 coil conversion still needs to use the optical part of the opti for crank triggering. So if the optics are crapped up, you'll have to open it up and clean it out. Or, if the bearings are shot and the rotor shaft is wobbling, you'll need a new opti anyway.

efi makes a ls1 conversion, runs about 2500. bucks. takes the opti out completely and switches to a ls1 ecm. you have to have the crank sensor on the front cover though so you would need to change it.

Is there an advantage to that other than getting rid of the opti? Does it produce better power?

Wow, that is one expensive mod for little to no gain.
