Question msd opti/lt4 hot cam... HELP

ok here goes. bought a 93 a4 z28 with a seized motor. i just purchased a 7,200 original mile shortblock out of a 95 with documentation and saw car it came out of. i got a very good deal luckily. now i have a few questions. the motor i just purchased has an lt4 hotcam in it. im going to be using the heads and intake off my old motor and its completly stock so should i swap in my lt1 cam in the new motor or will the hot cam work until i buy the supporting stuff. also my 93 motor has an actual msd opti spark thats like 2 months old and those are pricey from what ive seen. will that work on my 95 motor? i know the 95 to 97 is diff but didnt know if 93 would interchange. if not that will be okay i suppose i could sell the msd to fund the other stuff i need. im sorta new to these cars this is my 2nd but any help would be appriciated.

The opti from the 93 won't fit the 95, the drive connection is different. It would work if you used the cam and timing chain cover from the 93, but then there goes your hot cam.

By "the newer opti", did you mean his new, better, and vented MSD opti? And right, the splined timing gear should work to be able to accept the MSD. I was thinking the other way around, where you have to drill out the center hole of the old style cam to fit the larger shaft of the new style opti. But he's not going that way.
