msd ignition

How many people are running just the distributer and how many are running the hole kit theysell for 1200 bucks?

I'm running just the MSD opti in mine. For a stock LT1, the "hole kit" is overkill in my opinion. For the record, you can find the kit for under a grand, but that's still too much as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the advice I just looked quick on kegs and the kit looked really expensive.i will probably replace mine with the msd if it needs it.it broke up the other day so I wanted to start looking into it because I have heard opti is crap so I have been looking at all possible different ways to improve things.

I had found a smokin ebay deal of the century on my MSD opti, a new "open box" (guy who bought it never used it) delivered, for just under $200. Otherwise, I doubt I would have coughed up $460-ish for one.

I found a new Delphi unit for mine a few years back. I think it was about $350 + shipping delivered.

I don't think you can go wrong with an OEM unit, and I have read a lot of threads here where people didn't have the best of luck with after market units. Especially the cheapo parts sold through the chain autoparts stores.

one thing i didnt know till recently is the msd opti can be factory rebuilt at a reasonable cost.
