Default Mid Tubes headers?

How much more Horsepower do the longtubes give you over mid tubes? My mom won't let me get longtubes because the car won't inspect with longtubes. Sooo ... Is the performance the same?

unfortunatly the shorties dont give much of a gain. about 1/2 that of the lt. sound better than stock.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. A good shorty or mid tube exhaust will produce the same more or less as a longtube. There have been proven dyno results.

Are you talking about a fbody XJS? If so I have to disagree, especially when it comes to a LS1 Fbody.

well we are on a camaro site in the lt1 section. so id like to see these dynos from a 96 lt1 with shorties and with lts. the info i have seen says the shorties are not much better than the stock lt1 exhaust.

This is my understanding. There are 3 types of headers shorties, mids, and long tubes. mids are not shorties.

Depending on years makes and models your going to see different results so you can compare something like my 69 corvette that has horrible stock manifolds to an lt1 which are not great but vastly better then my corvettes.

shorties offer a very minimal gain. mids offer a better gain but the depending on the brand your going to see different results that Arizona speed and marine headers are supposed to give the closest hp gains to long tubes but they are very expensive. Long tubes are going to give you the best out of all of them.

now here is the big thing. Depending on your set up every one sees different gains. not only that but you can see the gains be different at different rpm ranges. I have seen dyno results that show stock manifolds preform better at lower rpm ranges over other headers on stock setups how ever at higher rpm ranges the headers out preformed the stock manifolds.

Im personally going to run Rk sports or mac mids. im expecting to see a 5-10 rwhp gain in the upper rpm ranges. i have seen people say they have gained any where from 15-25 rwhp from long tubes. im sure there are people that have seen more or less though. Again what modes you have or plan to do makes a big difference.

Most people speculate their gains, not many dyno the results. There's a link but I don't know how to post it. LS1TECH, lt1-lt4 search, " proven hp from lt headers ".
Just bolting on shorties is not going to give the gain of a complete system, the same goes for longtubes.

got nothing from the search. lol, ls1 search is confusing. im still seeing 5-15 hp gains with shorts and 15-25 with lts.

Once again I apologize for my lack of computer skills.
ls1tech.com
scroll down to lt1-lt4 modifications and click
on the top right is the search , click and type, proven hp from lt headers
it should be the first post.
It's just no one dyno's their exhaust systems, I did and so did the other 3 people. I have never seen anyone bolt on a set of longtubes on a LT1 and pick up 25 rwhp on a dyno.
