it might the plugs try replacing those also, o and just because they look the same even iff all the numbers are the same doesnt meant that they are the same so get one exactly from your year and engine

Unplugging the MAF is just going to force the car to run in open loop mode, it could be a different sensor. I doubt it's the plugs because it sounds like the issue only occurs when the car is running in closed loop mode. Do you have an SES light on?

agreed. plugs wont be the issue if the car runs in SD. im sure you have a code, but the 95 is OBD1 correct?

The 95 is an OBDI car with an OBDII diagnostic port, so you can't read any codes with a regular code reader like they have at autozone etc. You have to get the codes read from a dealer or jimmy it around (see LT1 sticky...)

When you disconnect the MAF the engine runs in open loop, and the PCM ignores many of the sensors. This is an indication that a sensor is bad, and not necessarily the MAF. You need to get the engine scanned & find out the DTC, otherwise you will be throwing parts at the car and acoomplish nothing.

Like I said before, check out the sticky at the top of the LT1 section and there's a section with a few links about reading the OBDI codes from the OBDII port.
