I have an Lt1 in my daily driver. Unfortunately, it weighs 4500 lbs, so it's nowhere near Camaro level. My dad has a 2000 GT. The GT is obviously faster, but I like the LT1 much more. The torque is rediculous. The LT1 also has better top end. My Caddy is lightly modded and I'm probably pushing 300 hp and 400 tq at the engine.

well thats not what im askin. im askin if the 275 rating for 93-95 camaros was at the wheels (285 for 96-97) and 305-310 for 96 and 97 SS models. then that would mean my car would be like 350 at the ground. cause 94z28shaker said the 275 rating was at the ground so does this mean im like what 350 at the ground due to all my extra **** done? cause im pretty sure im not 350 at the ground. but if i am. sweet. btw my car is an auto

well, it all depends on how u get that extra horsepower to the ground. Since you have an auto tranny like me, check in the glove box and see if it has the gu5 performance rear axle ratio option, if you don't have this then you aren't getting alot of hp to the ground. Another way is to have performance tires, and a big thing is to get a shift kit put in your transmission. look into that since it is another big way to bring that horsepower out!

Well, stock for stock the lt1 has 275 and the new mustang has 305, but it doesn't take much to get the camaro up to par and surpassing the new gt. Amazing that it took ford over 10 years to even keep up with the camaro lt1. even better the 96-97 camaro had 285 horsepower, exc the ss that had 305. but as for the quarter mile, the camaro stock runs 14.1 and the gt runs 13.9, so it is apparant to see that all is needed are a couple of mods on the camaro to beat the gt. maybe just headers, or a cai.
also remember that our LT1s arent even in production anymore, and that should be taken into account when comparing them to mustangs that are brand new. the last LT1 was 97, and mines a 94. i only had catbacks and a cai at the time. obviously that helped but the LT1s top end at a 60 roll probably wouldve taken him stock.. and i dont even know if the GT driver was stock..just came across another ford driver on the interstate

oh i got 3:73 gears with an eaton carrier and i cant remember the gears either richmond or auburn or sumthin high performance. and i got a b&m shift plus shift kit and the hypertech tune also firms up the shifts. it shifts really firm and hard. i get 1st to 2nd gear rubber for about 15-20 feet with bfg g-force t/a 275's so. it has no problem gettin that power to the ground. btw im lookin at a 96 firebird with the 3.8 does that use coil packs? aparantly the guy said it runs rough. i was gonna replace plugs, air filter, check wires and either distributor or opti (if the 3.8s have em idk) and replace that prolly too. guy is sellin it for 1200 bucks. because the passenger side fender and part of the bumper is smashed. shifts good, and has 129000 miles on it. those 3.8's last a good amount of time though right?

My '96 is stock with 3.42's and auto with a Moroso CAI and has run 13.87 @ 101 on a good race track. I think that the numbers can vary depending on the weather also. Mine was on an 87 degree day with a density altitude of 2700 feet ( I have alot of bracket racing friends with weather stations ). I have a friend with a '96 WS6 Formula with 3.73's Stock that ran a best of 13.99 @ 100 the same day and I outweigh Him by 125 lbs. Go figure. He also has a "93 Firehawk with a 3500 converter, a 383 LT1 that I built for Him and 3.91 gears that has run 11.38 @ 117 so He does know how to drive. I think an LT1 can run with these new GT Mustangs and an LS1 will clean their clock pretty well.

ORIGINAL: 94Z28SHAKER

the 275 is to the wheels, i think its around 305 at the crank, when i first got my 94 i allready had bought CAI for it, so the first time i dyno'd the car with the CAI no other mods i was pushing 270 hp and 305ftlbs tq at the wheels.
275 is a factory rating which is crank HP. The factory never rates RWHP.
